SurvivorWeb Exclusive
Written by: Steve Gibson

Last fall, 16 ordinary people from all parts of America were temporarily transplanted into the heart of the Amazon jungle, to live along the Rio Negro River for 39 days. These 16 strangers were forced to join together to create a new civilization, with the ultimate goal to outwit, outplay and outlast the others to win the grand prize of one million dollars.

These ordinary citizens were chosen from over 50,000 applicants who represented nearly every possible profession. One such individual, Heidi Strobel, a physical education at Eldon Middle School, chose to put her career on hold for the chance to test her skills at becoming the Ultimate Survivor.

Ms. Strobel might not have won the million dollar prize, but she certainly did attract national attention when she removed her clothes during an Immunity Challenge for a small serving of peanut butter and chocolate. For most people and professionals this would not be an issue, but it appears for Heidi, at least, her method of survival wasn’t what the Eldon Middle School Board had in mind.

The very attractive and petite 24 year-old woman from Jefferson City, Missouri now finds herself in another twist-of-fate; facing yet another challenge of a lifetime.

According to our insider reports, Ms. Strobel’s last day of teaching will come to a close today (May 27th) at 1:05 pm when classes are released for the summer. It does not appear that she will be back next fall to greet a new class of children.

Rumors have been circulating about the possibilities of Heidi posing for Playboy magazine, which she flatly denies. According to her CBS biography, aside from her Survivor duties, she is currently working on her master’s degree in physical education and plans to start on a second in nursing [or doctorate] next year. With her extra free time this summer, we should expect to see Heidi doing several Survivor related tours around the country and most likely visiting with her best friend from the Amazon (and new millionaire), Jenna Morasca.

Despite how the local school board and the small, yet vocal, group of offended people may feel about Heidi’s savage jungle exposure, we think it’s quite clear that Heidi did the right thing. We are hoping to see her on a roadside billboard sometime in the near future telling us what kind of chocolate and peanut butter snacks we should be buying.

So, if you’re out there in the advertising world and you’re looking for a spokeswoman, we have a pretty good suggestion for you.

As for Heidi’s future career, we have no doubts that she will do something extraordinary. Congratulations, Heidi Strobel, you’ve proven yourself to be a tough Survivor so far. Let’s see what you can really do.

This is old news how can it be an 'Exclusive'? What was your source Heidi's CBS chat transcript? All of this information came out during her webchat.

"The very attractive and petite 24 year-old woman from Jefferson City"

You're kidding, right? Never a "right" thing to take your clothes off in public and her "best friend" from the Amazon, won't have anything to do with her, now, she was just using her for her own gain....poor, unwitting Heidi.

Posted by: Barbara at May 27, 2003 09:59 AM

"Did the right thing"??? I hope some of the comments in this article were meant to be sarcastic.

Posted by: Brian at May 27, 2003 10:55 AM

Why is everyone so down on Heidi? Didn't any of you go streaking in college or do a little skinny dipping as a youth? This is no different.

Anyone that criticizes Heidi for what she did in the jungle would probably never get on the show in the first place, because they're so unwilling to take risks in life.

Live a little.

So what if Heidi took her clothes off in the Amazon. Perhaps her critics should pull out some old issues of National Geographic and see what the natives wore.

Posted by: Jak at May 27, 2003 02:25 PM

Heidi taking off her clothes is not the bad part of how she behaved. It is the constant babbling about being the "cute" girl that is troublesome. Her complete contempt for other people's shapes and clulessness of what an idiot she came across as being, is what should be a concern to any parent whose child is in the same school as her.

Posted by: brian at May 27, 2003 02:40 PM

Give me an Elizabeth or Colleen any day. Heidi is a disgustinly self absorbed mental midget!

Posted by: Dave at May 27, 2003 02:49 PM

Another good reason to ask for playboy for christmas!

Posted by: BLA at May 27, 2003 05:34 PM

Why does everyone keep saying Heidi and Jenna stripped for chocolate and peanut butter. The fact is there was no need to strip and Jeff Probst clearing stated in the episode he was going to give them to chocolate and peanut butter... all they had to do was jump in the water.... they didn't have to strip for it....

Posted by: Naree at May 27, 2003 11:26 PM

what heidi will do in the future is just nearly the same as everyone when they are young, anyway i still hope heidi could be succeed of what she wants to do.

Posted by: alice at May 28, 2003 06:16 AM

It's a good thing she will be away from teaching kids now. She is not a role-model for young kids in any sense. She needs to grow up and stop thinking she is better than anyone who is older or heavier than her. Pathetic. I'd be extremely embarrassed to have anyone see me naked or blurred out looking like an 80 year old skeleton, starving for food. She must be brain dead. She didn't have to strip for anything.

Posted by: Nina at May 28, 2003 12:17 PM

The thing is that she IS better than most people. Why must everyone get upset when someone superior simply stats the facts.

Posted by: Yoda at May 28, 2003 12:46 PM

Yoda, I hope your tongue was firmly in your cheek when you said that. Nothing shows a persons inferiority more than them constantly asserting their "superiority".

Posted by: Christine at May 28, 2003 03:35 PM

I can not believe anyone would think that Heidi is "better than most people", judging by the way she presented herself on TV & interviews? Bad observation and poor delivery Yoda.

Posted by: Brian at May 29, 2003 08:10 AM

Wow - lots of people are offended by this article. I didn't know about Heidi quitting her job until today, so I guess I can call it an "exclusive". Anyways, the whole..."stripping" incident was very unnecessary. It had to cause shame for her family, her community, and more importantly herself. She and Jenna could have easily jumped off the pole, with clothes on, and swam to shore to happily chomp on PB and chocolate. I just....don't get it - publicity stunt perhaps?

Posted by: Unknown at May 29, 2003 09:47 AM

One thing to remember is that there is a reason why some of these people were selected for the show out of 50,000 applicants. It is because of the fact that Heidi is so airheaded and coneipted that she was chosen. The producers new she and Jenna had it in them to flaunt their bodies and act like children. To say that Heidi was wrongly portrayed by editing is obsurd. She gave us what the producers hoped and thought she would. She is who she is, and that is part of what made this season so enjoyable. A character who is unlikable to most everyone but herself and the 12-18age group.

Heidi Rocks! Anyone on here hating her is just old people jelous of a hot babe. I would be proud if she was my teahcer. Maybe if there were more poeple like her around peopel would have more fun. I have only watched half of season of the show she was on but she is my favorite.

Posted by: Kevin at May 29, 2003 05:22 PM

Is everyone 60 here? None of you must've done anything wild when you were younger...

Posted by: Chad at May 31, 2003 12:19 PM

I'm 23 and the bottom line is Heidi is an idiot. Stipping or no stripping. Richard Hatch stripped also! The difference between him and Heidi is that Richard did it to feel free. Heidi did it as a publicity stunt to attract attention. Why else would you get fake boobs at the age of 21. If you feel so "wild and crazy" CHAD, maybe you should go take your clothes off in the middle of the mall.

Posted by: Amanda at May 31, 2003 08:12 PM

Oh, come on! I thought that it was a great idea for her to flaunt her body. Not only did she get chocolate out of it, she was able to make people think that she might do it again, therefore assuring a stay on the island. If my opinion means anything, this is what i have to say, "Way to go, Heidi!"

Posted by: Jacob at June 1, 2003 06:41 PM

One more time... SHE DID NOT HAVE TO STRIP FOR ANYTHING!!! Have people not watched this show before? Jump off, and you get your item. Did you think Probst drove the boat to a store when one of those 2 mentioned Peanut Butter & Chocolate? Hell no! It was already an item that was going up for a teaser to jump off. Just like in the Outback & Africa. Enough already on this subject. Bring on the Pearl Islands!

Posted by: SURVIVOR FAN at June 1, 2003 10:23 PM

Who gives a crud if she stripped. Ya'll are probably jealous.

I have had a chance to personally meet Heidi and have lunch with her. She is a one of a kind genuine nice person. So what if she has self confidence, maybe some of you should gain some!!

Posted by: Meg at June 9, 2003 03:50 PM

i love heidi. you are so right meg! They do need self confidence! i hate it when ppl are saying she did a bad thing...WELL HELLO! we all make mistakes you know! Are you saying you never made a mistake ever in your life?! reality check people! And anyways, you might think its a bad thing she did and shes learing from it..well i dont. i dont even think she made any kind of mistake! She is very confident, and i love that because we should try a bit harder not to feel so insecure about ourselfs. Heidi i love you to death! You played a great game, your a perfect role model! I love you so much! I wish you were in all-stars! would have been a better show if you were there! Im a huge fan, and since i do modeling as well, i know exactly how these kind of people are. There insecure and they have no idea that were people too. They look at us in bathing suits and think. shes stupid. shes trying to get attention. Were just like everyone else! i hope one day the world realizes that! I love you heidi! and if you read this, please respond, love you lots!
